When Samuel saw Jesse's tall and strong sons, he thought for sure that one of them was the future king that he was sent to anoint. But he didn't see what God saw, and he didn't expect that it would be Jesse's youngest and shortest son.
God doesn't look at our outward appearance, He looks at our hearts. Just like He saw and knew David would be a man after His own heart. A man with unbelievable courage. People look at our outside but God looks at our insides. God sees who we truly are.
'But the LORD said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." - 1 Samuel 16:7
