How to solve problems (7)

Ephesians 3:10 NIV

Finally, we need to try to see the problem from different angles. Paul talks about 'the manifold wisdom of God.' Thinking about a diamond can help us understand the word 'manifold'. Each time we turn it, the light exposes a different facet of its beauty. God's wisdom contained in the Bible is like that; it exposes different aspects and approaches to the problem. Most problems have many solutions. So we need to use our God-given creativity, apply sustained thinking, and pull together our resources to solve them. It can be really helpful to talk to people who have faced the same, or similar, problems. We can learn from their experiences, and they might be able to offer solutions we hadn't thought about. Sometimes we can become so caught up in our problems that we forget there may be things we haven't seen or considered before. God can also shows us different ways of looking at things. When Pharaoh had dreams which puzzled him, he sent for the best magicians and wise men in Egypt (you can read about his dreams in Genesis 41). But they couldn't give him an answer. Joseph was called in, and through God, he interpreted both dreams. Sometimes our usual ways of dealing with problems won't work. The people we usually go to for advice won't have the answers. But there is always another way - and that way is seeking God. With His help we can find solutions to our problems, and see them in ways we had never thought of before. No problem is too big, or too small, for us to take to Him. He can help us have a godly perspective when considering our problem.
