Ever felt empty? When we aren't connected with God, there will always be an emptiness. We can try and fill it with things like relationships, work, and money. But they don't really make us feel full and satisfied with life. In fact, they can actually make us feel even emptier. Instead, we need to be filling ourselves with God. Just like we need food to feel physically full, we need to be consuming God's Word to feel spiritually full. So we need to be setting time aside to read the Bible, and then asking God to help us put what we've read and learned into action. But the enemy doesn't want us to be doing that. He doesn't want us to feel full in God, in fact he wants us to feel empty. Jesus tells us that the enemy is like a thief, and 'the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.' The enemy wants to take things away from us, and to make us question God. When we feel empty, we can begin to doubt God and His goodness. We can ask, 'Is God really for me? Has He got good things in store for me?' But the Bible tells us that God is good, and He has good gifts and plans for us. The only way we can have a truly full life is through God. Jesus said: 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.' That doesn't mean it will be an easy life where we have everything we want. It's not a full life the way the world defines it. But when we fill ourselves with Him there is less room for worldly things, and more room for His goodness, love, peace, and joy to fill us.
