Believe the truth
We all know that we shouldn't lie. Lying can damage relationships by removing trust. Just one lie can cause a wound that takes years to heal, and in some cases is never healed at all. And believing the lies of the enemy has the same effect on our relationship with God. The Bible calls the devil 'the father of lies' and says that 'there is no truth in him' (John 8:44 NIV). When we start believing his lies, we become distanced from God and stop trusting Him; and if we don't recognise them for the lies that they are, our relationship with God may remain damaged.
The enemy's lies can range from lies about who we are to who God is. When we begin to believe lies about ourselves, we're rejecting the truth about our identity. And when we believe the devil's lies about God, the enemy is able to create a separation between us and God.
But we need to believe that what God says is true. Jesus said: 'I am the way and the truth and the life.' God is truth. He 'does not lie' (Titus 1:2 NIV). Unless we know the truth, it can be really challenging to work out when something's a lie or not. But the more we get used to listening to God's truth, and the more time we spend reading the Bible's truth, the easier it'll be to recognise the lying voice of the enemy.
If we're immersing ourselves in God's Word, we can be a generation who refuse to believe the lies of the enemy, a generation who refuse to let the enemy destroy our relationship with our Father God.
