Work
Whether we have got a job, or we are looking at getting one, it can be tempting to think that unless we work directly in ministry, we are not able to make a difference for God. But that's not the case. Wherever we work, whatever our task or pay, we can glorify God and show Him to those around us. We can show His love and truth to people through our actions. How do we react when we are criticised at work? How do we deal with other people being inefficient? Do we join in with the office gossip? Do we work hard, or waste time doing other things? Our attitude and our reactions can show others that there's something different about us. We can ask God to help us respond in a godly way. Work can be a source of stress and frustration for a lot of people, but we know that when we are at work we have God with us. God promises to never leave us, so when we are at work, He's there too. We can turn to Him at any time for advice, peace, and strength. We can ask Him to grow the fruits of the Spirit (have a read of Galatians 5:22-23), so that we respond in a godly way to any frustrations that we face at work. We should also make sure we are trying our best at work, and working hard, even when others are taking it easy and doing the bare minimum. The Bible says, 'Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters' (Colossians 3:23 NIV). Let's remember that whatever our role is, and wherever we are working, we are ultimately working for God.
