Heaven

John 14:2 KJV

It can be a struggle for us to think about heaven. We can't imagine what it'll be like, it can feel uncomfortable to think about dying, and it can remind us of those we have lost. We might not be able to know exactly what heaven will be like, but the Bible gives us a glimpse. In Revelation 21, it says: 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever' (v.4 NLT). There'll be no grief, heartache, tragedy, doubt, disappointment, illness, or pain. What was broken will be made new. Our brokenness will be eternally healed. Paul said: 'For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known' (1 Corinthians 13:12 NIV). Heaven will be a place of fullness. Right now, we only partially understand God, experience love, and see His kingdom; in heaven, we will see these things in their entirety. We will be face to face with God. Here on earth we can feel rejection, but in heaven there's a place for us. Jesus said: 'I am going there to prepare a place for you?' (John 14:2 NIV). When we think of these things, death no longer seems scary. But heaven is a prepared place for prepared people. We need to come to a place in life where we know for sure that if we died today we'd go to heaven. We can have that assurance by putting our trust in the One who paid for all our sins, and offers us the gift of eternal life.
