Legacy
We don't get to choose the moment of our arrival and departure here on earth, but we do get to choose what our legacy will be and what we will be remembered for. Will we be remembered for our faith in God? Or our interest in ourselves? In Hebrews 11, we find a list of people who left a legacy of faith. Each person on that list showed great faith in God, and reading their stories can strengthen our faith too. Even though they died a long time ago, they are still inspiring people today. Wouldn't it be amazing if we had a legacy like that too? If our faith in God inspired and encouraged people long after we were gone? Sometimes we can think that we have made too many mistakes, doubted God too much, or haven't walked with Him as closely as those people listed in Hebrews 11. But when you look closely, the people who are included in the list weren't perfect. Sarah doubted God after being told she would have a child. Moses doubted God's call on his life and made excuses as to why God had chosen the wrong man. Rahab had a scandalous past. But doubt, denial and our mistake-filled pasts don't rule us out from being remembered for faith in God. Whatever we have done, and wherever we have been, we can choose today to be the day that we turn around and walk God's way. We can choose to grow our faith in Him from now on. We can choose to obey Him and fulfil His purpose for our lives, rather than doing things our own way. Would we be included in a list of great people of faith? If we don't think we would, let's do something about it.
